What is Radical Surgery?

The adjective radical is used to indicate a major procedure or drastic form of treatment, usually the removal of a part of the body.

Radical surgery could be the removal of an arm or leg. A radical mastectomy is the removal of a breast while a radical dissection is the removal of a large amount of material that may be infected or cancerous.
