Transurethral Resection of Prostate

What is transurethral resection of prostate?

A transurethral resection of prostate (TURP) is an operation in which most (but not usually all) of the prostate gland is removed by passing a cystoscope into the urethra (urine tube in the penis) and using cutting and flushing tools attached to the cystoscope.
